How Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Works
Consumer-Directed Home Care
The Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) was developed for people who use or need personal and/or home care assistance. As with all other programs, it is based on the conviction that people know their own needs best and should drive the process that meets those needs.
CDPAP promotes independence. Assistants are not hired by an agency. Instead, individuals themselves take control of the process by identifying their own needs and actively recruiting, hiring, training, and -- when necessary -- dismissing the personal care attendants they want.
The Personal Assistant Network is an independent network and is not associated with any groups or organizations.
